On January 30, prior to the varsity basketball game between the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans and Norwood Indians, De’Shawn Hicks was surprised with a Game Changer MVP award from the LaRosa Family Foundation.
The LaRosa Family Foundation chooses a Game Changer MVP each month, and Hicks was recognized as December’s recipient. These awards are given to high school athletes, team leaders, and supports who “lead with integrity, support their teams selflessly, give back to their communities, and inspire others through heart and hustle.”
Hicks, a tight end for the SBEP football team, was spotlighted for overcoming adversity and rehabilitating from an injury that kept him off of the field in 2024.
